Our summer internship program offers paid positions that are full-time, 40-hour weeks and on-site at our collegiate-inspired campus in Pontiac, Michigan. It’s an immersive 12-week experience from late May through early August, offering an exclusive learning opportunity for undergrad juniors, seniors and MBA students.
We take your area of study and goals into account when placing you on one of our 20+ teams. Your internship offers real-world experience with leaders who are passionate about teaching you real skills and setting you up for a real opportunity to start your professional career here. You’ll also be able to shadow other teams in the company to get a deeper perspective across roles, while collaborating with industry leaders and nearly 200 other STMs on real projects that are vital to our business.
Internships are available in Sales, Marketing, Finance, IT, Underwriting, Human Resources and more. When you have a sense of the internship that’s right for you, simply apply. Our recruiter will evaluate your resume, interests and skills and reach out to you within 2–3 business days to schedule an initial phone call to help us understand what team might be best for you.
Our fully immersive internships help you learn the ins and outs of UWM and the mortgage industry in a unique, hands-on fashion. And the learning process goes both ways. Our STMs bring fresh ideas and new perspectives to the workplace that give us the opportunity to grow and get better as a company. Once your internship is over, don’t be surprised if you receive a full-time employment offer or a letter of intent for after you graduate!
At UWM, when we say, “Service is everyone’s responsibility,” we mean it. Every summer, our interns take part in a large charity project that benefits our surrounding communities. From gathering backpacks full of school supplies for local schools to making fleece blankets for children’s hospitals and much more, STMs learn about a lot more than the mortgage industry. They also learn the value of making a difference.
For those who are first-year or sophomore students and not yet eligible for a UWM internship, consider the UWM Emerging Leaders Workshop — an internship-like opportunity for younger college students that focuses on building leadership skills. We’ll teach you about our winning, people-first culture, the importance of emotional intelligence in the workplace, ways to build your professional brand, and you’ll even walk away with an official UWM certification focused on leadership development!
